Choosing the right mixing equipment for your project

Classification of mixing equipment

Mixing equipment includes blending equipment, mixing equipment, and kneading equipment. The different working methods of the mixer determine that the mixer is divided into two types: fixed container type and rotating container type.

Rotary container type mixer is characterized by the rotary movement of the container, so that the material in the container is constantly tumbling and mixing, so as to achieve efficient mixing effect. Fixed container type mixer is characterized by putting the materials into the fixed container and then mixing them through the agitator, so as to realize the mixing of materials.

According to the operation mode can be divided into continuous and batch type. Continuous type mixer is characterized by loading, mixing and discharging materials are continuous and uninterrupted, with the advantages of high production efficiency, large output, low energy consumption, high stability performance, suitable for large amount of projects. However, its disadvantage is the poor adaptability to changes in technology, high equipment prices and maintenance difficulties. Intermittent mixer is characterized by loading, mixing and discharging process is cyclical, the advantages of high quality of mixing, widely used, but the disadvantage is the loading and unloading trouble, can not realize the continuous production.

According to the working principle can be divided into gravity mixer and forced mixer. Gravity mixer is characterized by the use of different body geometry or mechanical movement, so that the particles in their own gravity under the action of complex material mixing movement. Forced mixer is characterized by external mechanical force to mix the material.

Characteristics of various types of mixing equipment

Ø Horizontal spiral belt mixer

Horizontal spiral belt mixer is the most commonly used batch fixed container mixer. It is mainly composed of motor, transmission mechanism, spiral belt, mixing container and frame. Suitable for mixing easily separable materials, but not suitable for mixing easily damaged materials. Because the spiral belt of this kind of mixer has the effect of interrupting and grinding the material, it will cause damage to the material.

Ø V-type mixer

The mixing cylinder has unique structure, uniform mixing, high efficiency and no accumulation. The whole machine has simple structure and easy operation. The outer surface and material contact parts are made of high-quality stainless steel, beautiful appearance, easy maintenance and cleaning. Suitable for mixing dry powder and granular materials, widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical, food and other industries.

Ø Three-dimensional mixer

The 3D motion mixer uses the multi-dimensional space movement mode to make the material carry out multi-direction and multi-level compound movement in the mixing cylinder. This mixing method can ensure that the material reaches a highly uniform state in a short time. The 3D mixer is especially suitable for materials that require high mixing uniformity, such as medicines and health products.

Ø Double cone mixer

Widely used in chemical industry, pesticides, dyes, food, feed, building materials, rare earth powder and powder (solid-liquid) mixing. The machine has a wide adaptability to mixed materials, does not overheat heat sensitive materials, does not press feed and grind granular materials, and does not produce chip segregation for materials mixed with different specific gravity and particle size; The machine can add a jacket to the outside of the mixer barrel according to the process requirements, and the material can be cooled or heated by injecting hot and cold medium into the jacket; Cooling is generally pumped into industrial water, and heating can be channeled into steam or electric heating of thermal oil.

In short, the characteristics of different mixing equipment are different, and a variety of factors need to be considered in the selection of mixing machines, including processing amount, material characteristics, process requirements, site and budget, operation and maintenance.
